The Lazy Lemon is a year old! 10th November 2017 was the date I finally plucked up the courage to launch my little shop. I'd toyed with the idea for years, particularly throughout the final year of my degree, when every minute not working on my dissertation was spent painting or writing lists of what I wanted to sell. It was only after I'd graduated that I actually found the motivation to start designing, and creating the little shop I wanted. I always wanted the shop to be a fun, creative outlet for me. Coming up with a name and a brand was a lot of fun, I always envisioned my shop to be bright and colourful and The Lazy Lemon just suits that style so well!
Starting off with two greetings cards, the shop has now grown and gained prints and enamel pins, a total of 17 products on Etsy. Enamel pins were the most exciting addition to The Lazy Lemon for me, I've always been a lover of enamel pins, with a hefty collection from the likes of Wren & Wilson, Pin Club, Kikki.K and other small businesses and high street chains.
For me the enamel pins were the first proper product I designed for the shop, I feel like creating these little accessories was a much more complex and rewarding process than greetings cards and prints. For me personally it was the first piece of design that I did that I knew couldn't be completed without finding the right external supplier. With greetings cards and prints, despite using external suppliers, it's not so much of a long process and for me I find it takes far less work. Seeing something that I've designed so carefully and waiting so long for is quite special to me, being able to sell those products and to have others enjoy them is just another level of accomplishment which really makes the work worthwhile.
I have big plans for the next year of The Lazy Lemon. I want to diversify the products I sell, introduce some stationary (eee!) and definitely add more enamel pins. My style is still developing and this year I want to really push myself to take more risks with the shop and really see what I can produce. I've learnt over the past year that not everything will work, not everything will sell well, it's just about adapting to the customers and seeing what works and what doesn't.
To celebrate The Lazy Lemon being a year old I'm running a little discount code over on my Etsy, so using the code 'BIRTHDAY1' you can get 15% off any product! This discount is running until Friday the 16th November, so take advantage!
